Redefining Success

Welcome to the  "Redefining Success" a blog dedicated to those seeking fulfillment and growth in both their professional and personal lives. This space is for achievers who, despite their external successes, feel a sense of disconnection from themselves. If you recognise the need to shift your focus from external accolades to inner balance and self-care, you are in the right place. I will share the knowledge, skills, and suggestions that have helped me transition through the different phases of my own life.

Last week, I spent time with The Coaching Room, with whom I've trained with for over seven years. "The Playbook for Life" program was a deep dive into discovering greater clarity, purpose, and recover confidence in myself and my future. Knowing and understanding myself is part of maturing as a coach which is vital for me; it helps me stay authentic and genuine. Through my training and coaching experiences, I've come to understand that I view the world through my own lens, shaped by my experiences, beliefs, habits, and cultural upbringing. I've realised that I don't see the world as it is, but rather how I perceive it through my personal lens.

What Makes Us Real?

Being authentic and real is about embracing who you truly are, without pretence. It's about slowing down and being intentional about valuing YOU acknowledging your strengths and weaknesses, values and beliefs, and expressing them honestly in your interactions with others. I have shared 5 ways that you can begin to embrace authenticity:

1.Self-Awareness: Understanding your emotions, motivations, and desires. Self-knowledge allows you to be awake to who you truly are. Sometimes we can mistake who we are when we try and be who we think we should be or who others expect us to be.

2. Honesty: Being truthful with yourself and others, even when it's difficult. This means communicating openly. We speak and express our truths outwardly in the way we interact and live. Being Real is about learning to face and speak the truth of your situation, of your life and of your current experiences.

3. Integrity: Aligning your actions with your values and beliefs. Doing this consistency builds trust and respect with others and reinforces your sense of self.

4. Vulnerability: Allow yourself to be seen with all your perfect imperfections. Being open without expectations creates deeper connections with others and invites them to do the same.

5. Continuous Growth: Being authentic doesn't mean being static. It's about continuously learning and growing, staying true to your core while adapting and evolving in response to new experiences and insights.

Having Presence

For me, having presence means being fully here and now, free from the distractions of my past and internal stories. One of the greatest gifts I can give someone is my undivided attention. If I catch myself drifting into my own thoughts or memories, I know I’m not truly present. Being present means consciously setting aside all distractions and focusing entirely on the person I’m with.

Being authentic can lead to greater fulfillment and resilience. When you live in alignment with your true self, you build a solid foundation for a richer, more meaningful life. Authenticity also enhances your relationships, as people are naturally drawn to those who are genuine and sincere. By being real, you invite deeper connections and foster an environment of trust and mutual respect.

If you need to ask yourself if you are being authentic - you are probably not. When we are aligned wth our values and live with integrity, we are living authentically.
